National President
Sri Arya Bhushan Shukla (A B Shukla) is an astrologer, administrator, spiritual guide and currently Hon. National President of Indian Council of Astrological Sciences (ICAS). He is serving as President of ICAS since 2008 and has been responsible for its growth and development.
Belonging to the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the Government of India, he recently retired from service after holding various positions in the states of Delhi, Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He has worked in the field of administration, Law, Legal Aid, Vigilance and Municipal Administration.
At present he is a member of National Monuments Authority (NMA), under the Ministry of Cultures, Government of India.
Sri A B Shukla has been an ardent learner of astrology or jyotish as it is properly called since his childhood. This interest in this branch of Vedas was nurtured by Dr. B V Raman, the Founder-President of ICAS. His close association with Dr Raman not only made him one of the initial members of ICAS but also helped him to astrology as Para Vidya, i.e., learning related to the ultimate truth or Self-Knowledge. He has never considered astrology as only a tool to solve temporal problems related to work, education, marriage, children etc. but as the way to achieve Atma jnana (Self-Knowledge).
On the directions of Dr B V Raman, Sri Shukla became the Controller of Examinations of ICAS and later was elected unanimously as the Hon. National President of ICAS. Being President has not stopped him from being a teacher and researcher. Since last one and half decades, he regularly teaches Post-Visharada students in New Delhi. He also keeps on going to all the Chapters of ICAS to interact with the students and faculty. These interactions with students and faculty of all chapters have proved to be not only very popular but also a fertile ground for initiating new ideas and testing them rigorously before their propagation.
Sri A B Shukla is well versed in ancient scriptures of India and abroad. His strong point is in effortlessly explaining the philosophy of scriptures in the light of Jyotisha. Fundamental principles of astrology like structure of kundali, why the first house of horoscope is owned by Mars, badhaka, exceptions to Arudha calculation etc. have been explained by him through his deep understanding of ancient scriptures. His researches on retrogression of planets is an eye opener as data for 4000 years data has been analysed to understand the significance of planetary motions in the zodiac and their impact on our worldly life.
Sri A B Shukla’s interest in jyotisha finds its complement in his research on Vastu. His researches has demonstrated how the vastu principles can be understood in light of Taittiriya Brahmana and Srimadbhagavadgita. He amply shows the charming relationship between us, humans and the five primordial elements of this universe. The study of vastu is not just an architectural exercise but a mean to lead a meaningful and holistic life which is aligned to the Prakriti Dharma.
A man who meditates on foundations of life in the framework of Upanishads, Bhagavadgita and Vedic mantras, he offers stunning insights in the fields of both astrology and spirituality; he synthesises modern science, religious beliefs and philosophy of mind. A firm believer of leading life in tune with Nature, he draws lessons from most unexpected quarters. He has been taking deep interest in Sikhism, Jainism, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity et al. He guides each and every one according to her/his belief system. Sri A B Shukla is closely associated with the Shankaracharyas and other saints of India. He was especially close to the Paramacharya of Kanchi Kamkoti Peetham. The present Senior Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamkoti conferred on him the title ofJyotisha Ratna. He fondly addresses him as Jyotisha Shukla. ICAS has also conferred him with its highest title Jyotish Martand. The Council of Vedic Astrology of America conferred upon him its highest title Jyotish Brihaspati in 2014. Currently ICAS has conferred him Lifetime Service Award in 2017 only.
